Morristown residents facing drug charges after arrests

Tennessee law enforcement officials are very vocal about their efforts to reduce drug activity within the state. Various agencies often combine resources to investigate alleged activity. The investigations often include many personnel and are conducted over a long period of time. A recent effort among local and state personnel resulted in the arrests of 14 individuals on several drug charges.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Morristown Police Department have worked together for two years on this case. Officers obtained a search warrant recently for the home of a 32-year-old man. After the search of the man's home, police reported that they found over $20,000 in cash, as well as almost 600 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He has been charged with Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia and Sale and Delivery of Schedule VI Controlled Substance.

Thirteen other Morristown residents were indicted on a variety of charges related to this investigation, according to court documents. The men and women who were indicted range in age from 26 to 62. The charges against them include Sale and Delivery of Controlled Substance, Schedule II or Schedule III, according to the Assistant Director of the Drug Investigation Division.

Anyone facing drug charges in the state of Tennessee should contact an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. If convicted, a person could face hefty fines or significant time in jail. A knowledgeable lawyer will work diligently to present the most rigorous defense possible against the charges. A strong defense team will strive to keep any negative impact on a client's life to a minimum.
