Juvenile crimes: Minor facing auto theft, weapons charges

A 17-year-old male is facing weapons charges in connection with a recent police search. The Metro Police Juvenile Crimes Task Force in Nashville came across a vehicle that was reported stolen while on the lookout for other stolen Tennessee vehicles. When they approached the car, the driver allegedly fled. Cops found the car in a nearby neighborhood. According to witnesses, the driver and passengers ran into an apartment.

Upon investigation, the cops said they smelled marijuana coming from the apartment where they found four people, two under the age of 18. An 18 and 17-year-old male allegedly told cops they were in the vehicle. While searching the apartment, police claim to have found firearms, drugs and drug paraphernalia. One of the firearms was said to be stolen.

Police said one of the juveniles claimed the guns was his. He has been charged with three counts of unlawful gun possession and theft of a gun, as well as auto theft. The 18-year-old was also accused of auto theft. Two other men in the apartment, aged 28 and 32, have been charged with drug possession for resale.

The parents or guardians of underage Tennessee residents who are accused of juvenile crimes may find the help of a Tennessee attorney invaluable. Serious felony offenses like auto theft and drug crimes may be punishable by jail time. Having an aggressive legal team may significantly improve the chances of a positive outcome for  those who have been accused of juvenile crimes. A lawyer may be successful in reducing any sentences or having the charges dismissed entirely.
