Truck driver faces drunk driving charges following stop

Commercial trucks of every size frequently occupy the roads in the state of Tennessee. Companies often use this form of transportation to transfer goods across the country. The truck drivers may come from any state in the union and simply plan on driving through the state. Unfortunately, one visitor to Tennessee may find himself staying a little longer than he anticipated, as he now faces charges of alleged drunk driving, among others.

A 51-year-old man from another state was stopped recently in Greene County by a trooper from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. According to reports, the man had been following too closely and was driving in an aggressive manner. The warrants stated that the man, employed by Wolf Trucking, had blood-shot eyes, slurred speech and dilated pupils. In field sobriety tests, the man allegedly performed badly and exhibited poor balance. The man apparently refused to have a blood test administered.

Evidently, the truck driver then tried to flee on foot. According to the warrant, when the police officer tried to place handcuffs on the man, he put up a fight. Records reflect that a white crystal substance was located in a baggie in the man's pocket. The truck driver is facing charges of DUI and violation of implied consent law, felon possession of methamphetamine and resisting arrest.

Facing charges of drunk driving in the state of Tennessee is a serious matter. A conviction could result in fines, loss of license or time in jail. Everyone has a right to present a defense and should take advantage of this opportunity. A knowledgeable criminal defense attorney can help clients fully understand the charges against them and develop the best defense possible. One of the main goals of an experienced defense team is to minimize the negative impact on a client's life.
