2 facing drug charges after arrest in Nashville

Heroin trafficking is becoming a serious problem in the state of Tennessee, according to law enforcement agencies. Police officers in Nashville have participated in an ongoing investigation of drug operations over the past six months. Two men were recently arrested and now face a variety of drug charges.

A 40-year-old man driving a rented sport utility vehicle was stopped by the Metro Nashville Police. Following a search of the car, officers reportedly found a handgun, four cell phones and $58,000 in cash. The man supposedly told the officers that he had received the cash in a transaction involving marijuana.

On the following day, the police stopped a truck being driven by a 36-year-old man. According to reports, officers found around 30 grams of heroin in the man's pocket. A search of the man's truck purportedly found 95 more grams of heroin, a loaded handgun and $20,000 in cash. Police later searched his home and located 1.5 pounds of heroin and drug paraphernalia. A luxury sports car, additional cash and another gun evidently belonging to the man were found at another address.

The men face a variety of charges, including money laundering, heroin possession in a drug-free school zone and felony gun possession. Other charges are unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and a gun law violation. The 40-year-old man is free on $75,000 bond, while the 36-year-old is being held in lieu of bond.

Anyone facing drug charges in the state of Tennessee should understand the gravity of the situation. A negative outcome could result in serious consequences, such as hefty fines or significant time in jail. An experienced criminal defense lawyer can help someone understand the charges against them and work toward minimizing the negative impact on his or her life.
