Theft and property crimes: Stolen property found in Bluff City
Approximately $1 million worth of stolen property was recently recovered in Tennessee, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office. In an interview with the Sheriff, he stated that this is purportedly one of the largest theft and property crimes ever reported in the county. Authorities report that a tip led them to a Bluff City property where several allegedly stolen items were found.
A search warrant was obtained for the property, and deputies found numerous items that had been apparently reported as stolen. Among the items were cars, trucks, trailers, boats and scooters. In addition, there were golf carts, lawnmowers and tractors that were recovered. Several agencies worked together, including the Washington County, VA Sheriff's Department, Kingsport and Bristol police departments.
Initially, a tractor company in Abingdon reported that a fence at the business had been cut. A company executive learned that six pieces of equipment had been stolen. Police followed a lead and say they discovered the stolen items.
No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing. Officers believe that several people must have been involved, given the scope of the operation. Police believe that two residents who live in the home or near it have been involved in the operation, but officials continue to sort through evidence.
When someone in Tennessee is charged with theft and property crimes, it is important to have someone knowledgeable involved who understands the complexities of the legal process. An experienced criminal defense attorney will review all the details and develop a strategy to achieve the best outcome in the case. A strong defense team working on someone's behalf can minimize the negative impact on his or her life.
